The Foundation for Rural Enterprise and Ecology Development of Mindanao (FREEDOM) Inc. had a contract signing with Department of Agriculture (DAR) Region XII for the Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity and Economic Support Services (ARCCESS) Program’s Business Developmental Services Batch 2 (BDS 2) project last November 18, 2014 at the Green Leaf Hotel in General Santos City.

Attending the signing for FREEDOM was its executive director, Tony Peralta, accompanied by Reynaldo Legaste, Eliseo Sotelo, Justino Oplas, Rolando Paja, and Fritz Escudero. Attending for Department of Agrarian Reform Regional Office (DARRO) Reg. 12 was Regional Director Nasser Musali, Babai Tumog, and Rowhaniza Abba.

The implementation of the BDS 2 projects will be closely implemented in Sarangani, South Cotabato Provinces for Lot A, and North Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat for Lot B. The BDS 2 project will have four modules: General Management, Market Management, Financial Management, Organizational Management, and Governance.

The projects will primarily strive to develop an entrepreneurial and production-driven mindset for the farmers. Adhering to FREEDOM’s objective of empowering farmers in agriculture and business, the project aims to train farmers to establish a better micro enterprise status in their communities.

This project will also serve as a preparation for future challenges as the urgency to address climate change problems involving the agricultural sector is beginning to be rampant. These preparations will also serve as training for the upcoming developments brought by the ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (AFTA).
